In October, Chinese ferrosilicon market performed poorly with sliding prices continuously. The downstream market remains dim and most of steel mills reduced production, so the demand for ferrosilicon became weaker. The excessive supply caused to fierce competition between producers and dropping prices. The traders and end-users just adopted hand-to-mouth purchasing strategy, so slow buying activities could be seen in the market. By the end of the month, prices for ferrosilicon 72%min had fallen by 3.4% with those for ferrosilicon 75%min dropping by 3.2%.
