The overall Chinese silicon metal market was dull in October. The demand from local and overseas markets was weak and traders and consumers were inclined to decrease stocks, purchasing in small quantities on hand-to-mouth basis. The overall market saw few purchasing activities and prices for both metallurgical grade and chemical grade silicon metal kept dropping. Chinese silicon metal export market saw few new orders in October. The market saw several orders for Q1 2016 procurement with relatively large quantities and most of the transactions on the spot market were in small quantities. As Chinese local price dropped continually and the export market was under fierce competition, Chinese silicon metal export prices fell sharply in October.
