Steel plate prices increased slightly in most domestic markets, including Tianjin and Shanghai, during the month because of the tight supply, although they slid in certain regions, such as Guangzhou. Although October is the traditional peak season, demand from downstream industries remained disappointing and showed no signs of getting stronger. Lacking confidence in the market outlook, most traders simply supplemented inventories according to grade shortages, rather than in large quantities. Insiders predict the steel plate price is likely to go down in November.
