In the first half of September, the price of Chinese selenium powder 99.9%min remained mostly stable, and the price saw a slight increase in late September as the domestic producers were reluctant to sell and raised the price although the domestic demand witnessed no significant pickup. In late September, market transactions continued to be limited due to a lack of support from demand, and the price of the domestic selenium powder 99.9%min slumped again. The selenium dioxide market saw the similar phenomenon in September; the price of the domestic selenium dioxide was forced to go upward by producers in the first half of September but then declined as the domestic electrolytic manganese market continued moving down. It is expected that the demand for selenium dioxide will remain sluggish in October.
The price of Chinese tellurium metal 99.99%min kept dropping in September with a decrease of RMB35/kg. The end-users’ demand in refrigeration slice industry saw no signs of increase, the oversea market of tellurium metal was weak as well and the price in the oversea market also saw a falling trend. The domestic inventory of tellurium metal remains abundant currently and the price is still under heavily downward pressure in October.
