Thai HRC market steady

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 15 Sep 14 - HRC prices in Thailand remains unchanged for now as imported hot rolled coils are hard to enter the local market due to the anti-dumping from the central government. Local traders foresee a stable price in a short run.
An HRC trader in Bangkok reveals that the current offer for SS400 3.0mm*1,250mm*C is THB22,500/t (USD700/t), the same as that of last week.
Noted by the source, the above offer is given to end users with purchasing quantity of below 5t, including the slitting price, while some fixed buyers or clients with large orders can make deals at the price of THB22,000/t (USD680/t) for above products. Reporting stable sales volume, he thinks the price will be unchanged in the coming week.
Another HRC purchaser in Bangkok says the price for above product from local coil center is THB22,000/t (USD680/t), unchanged over that of last week.
According to the source, a new automobile plant with the production capacity of over 100,000 units per year is in planning for now. “Thought the purchase for cars production has not started yet, the construction of such a big plant also helps to consume more steels,” he says. With the monthly purchasing quantity of about 500t for not rolled coils, the source does not think the market will see any big changes as the anti-dumping policy from the government protects the market well.
