AM Statistics: Henan aluminum smelting operation rate at 85.97% in November

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 6 Dec 13 - Even being suffering losses, aluminum smelters in Henan, China did not cut production these months. According to survey by Asian Metal the operation rate was 85.97% for November, and the production was 279,500 tons.
The active aluminum smelting capacity in Henan province is 3.95 million tons per annum since some small-scaled smelters shut down, and the capacity of 3.4 million tons per annum keeps running at present.
One reason why these smelters did not cut production is the losses are not bigger enough for them to bear, because most of them have matching power plant. Only the capacity about 958,000 tons per annum have no matching power generator. However, these parts may get direct power supply before long.
Some of these smelters also seek other way to reduce losses, such as prolong industrial chain. However, it seems to be impossible for them to avoid losses due to Chinese sluggish aluminum market.
