Chinese cast iron and S.G. cast iron market dropped this August when experienced largest decrease of this year. Prices descended by RMB200-300/t in regional markets averagely, and larger price drop was seen in some markets which responded the previous depreciation slowly, such as Lanzhou market in Gansu where experienced a RMB475/t fall this August. Activity of S.G. cast iron further depressed in August and iron plants were getting aggressive in pushing down prices to sell stocks, especially Hebei and Shandong. As the price of S.G. cast iron slid down largely in Shanxi in June and July, so movements were relatively favorable in Shanxi where saw a smaller depreciation as a result of few operating iron plants and a relatively tighter supply of spot S.G. cast iron. Overall, the price of S.G. cast iron is unlikely to stop falling in September.
