In June, germanium prices were easy to be monopolized as primary germanium is mainly controlled by domestic large enterprises, as a kind of centralizing resource. It was only one of main reasons for germanium prices to increase sharply in June. Germanium prices raised to RMB9,000-9,200/kg at the end of June from RMB7,400-7,600/kg at the beginning, growth rate at a high level of 21%. However, buying activity had no signs to improve as most buyers preferred to watch the market due to sharp increase. Hence, germanium prices were expected to increase further in July as sellers were unwilling to sell.
