AM Statistics: China's major die-casting zinc alloy producers' operating rate below 50%

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 18 Apr 12 – According to the investigation statistics of 15 sample die-casting zinc alloy producers with the monthly output above 450t by Asian Metal, the operating rate of the plants was 48.31% in March, and the operating rates were even lower in the previous two months of this year due to the Spring Festival holiday.
From the investigation results, the operating rates of the die-casting zinc alloy plants maintain at a very low level in China, and most plants’ operating rates are below 50%. The equipments vacancy rate is very high.
Most die-casting zinc alloy producers reflected that the market moved slowly in early 2012, and the demand dropped a lot in the first quarter compared with that in the same period of past 2-3 years. The global economy slows down, especially in Europe, which drags down the export market, and the export market share of zinc products drops a lot in China since 2011.
Further more, Chinese manufacturing industry is facing great difficulty in the development. The hardware, zipper, electronic components, bathroom products, ornament industries remain in the doldrums. In this case, the demand for die-casting zinc alloy from Chinese domestic market also keeps weak.
In the macroscopic angle, the European debt problems will not be solved well in the near term and will continue to disturb the global market. Besides, Chinese monetary and real estate policy will not be eased obviously this year. In this background, die-casting zinc alloy demand may keep weak and the operating rates will still keep at the low level in the short term.
