Colorado-based Abound Solar, a manufacturer of thin-film cadmium telluride (CdTe) photovoltaic modules, announced yesterday that it will ease production of its first-generation solar cells in order to accelerate the manufacturing process and equipment changes needed for the production launch of its next generation high-efficiency module. This comes at a time when US solar consumption is low while prices for raw materials have remained somewhat lackluster over the last quarter.
