Niobium metal market goes steadily in China

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 26 Mar 12 – Sources reported to Asian Metal that demand of niobium metal such as wrought niobium and unwrought niobium keeps stable with consumers buying regularly. In addition, the prevailing prices of niobium bar and niobium ingot respectively keep at RMB850/kg (USD135/kg) and RMB1,200/kg (USD191/kg), unchanged from the prices last month.
A producer of niobium bar from South China disclosed to Asian Metal that niobium metal market in China still keep stable, with both demand and deals not showing fluctuation signs. According to the source, they did not sign long-term orders with consumers, but consumers still purchase regularly. “And our selling prices are still at about RMB850/kg (USD135/kg),” said the source, who just replenished a batch of niobium concentrate at the prices of USD21.5/lb CIF China.
Commenting on the future market, the source whose metallurgical grade niobium oxide consumption volume is about 8-10t per month, said that he is optimistic about the future market with the strong demand of niobium bar and rising prices of columbite at the present time.
A niobium ingot consumer from North China also shared with Asian Metal that the niobium section bar demand from market abroad keeps stable and their purchasing prices of niobium ingot keeps stable at around RMB1,200/kg (USD191/kg), unchanged from the prices last week. The source also disclosed that their downstream consumers now are placing orders actively.
