In September, the steel billet price runs stable first and then decreases. Taking the steel billet in Tangshan, the major steel market for example, the price decreases by RMB400/t (9.82%). In the first half of September, the steel billet price runs stable due to the weak demand and the high production cost. However, under the background of the sever financial crisis and the increasing deposit-reserve ratio, market players suffer financial strain. Traders move down the price to clear stock to withdraw funds.
At the end of this month, the market runs sluggish. Mills move down the steel price sharply to attract purchasers before the National Day holiday. In Tangshan, Hebei, the price of steel billet Q235 150mm*150mm runs at RMB4,070/t VAT included, RMB4,130-4,150/t in Wuan, RMB4,180/t in Shanxi, RMB4,150/t in Liaoyang.
