Rare earth market was inactive in July and prices dropped. In August, the market remains slow, and it is difficult to conclude transactions. Accordingly, downstream industries are sluggish and most plants decrease production. Separation plants in South China haven’t recovered to manufacture and part of them enter into environmental protection. Traders continue to lower rare earth quotations in order to reach agreements. However, purchasers are unwilling to replenish rare earth products as the market keeps fluctuate. Light rare earth market is still slow and buyers are not inclined to purchase. Heavy rare earth demand keeps soft and the transactions are still few.
The fluctuated domestic market enhances the wait-and-see attitude of international importers, so, rare earth exporting market remains flat in August and the inquiries decrease in the overseas market. International purchasers prefer to watch the market. Meanwhile, foreign suppliers are selling rare earth products at lower prices, which makes Chinese suppliers more difficult in exporting rare earth. Chinese exporters have intention of lowing light rare earth quotations in order to conclude a bargain. However, the expected prices of overseas buyers are too low to reach a agreement with Chinese suppliers, and then it is still hard to conclude exporting deals.
