This month, most prices of rare earths are firm, along with the stable situation of market in May, and heavy rare earths market shows a strong trend in the coming days. The purchasers are cautious to replenish their stocks, and hold the attitude to watch the market for a while, which means less deals of rare earths in the spot market. The inquiry of La-Cerium related products is decreasing and the market is a bit flat; Some suppliers would like to sell the two materials at lower prices. Dysprosium-related products inquiries are still a lot, and the prices continue to go up, some plants are grudging in selling the material. For the downstream industries, NdFeB magnetic participants can not accept the high prices of mischmetal; Phosphors power industry becomes steady; Ceramic industry, polishing powder and catalyst industry demand is still weak.
In May, the tendency of rare earths exportation is not strong. Domestic rare earths prices keep rising, and the FOB China prices increase accordingly. Importers abroad pay close attention to Chinese local rare earths market and the quantity of quota for H2 2011. The exporting market of La-Cerium related products remains weak, and overseas insiders believe that Mountain Pass and Lynas rare earth mining, which are rich in La, Cerium elements, will have an affect on Chinese exportation of rare earths. China still has the advantage of heavy rare earths than other countries. Japan and Untied States are the main import countries of rare earths from China.
