The Chinese major producers are in no hurry to sell their inventories for using them as raw material to produce downstream products and have long-term contract to keep their operation, so germanium metal price in Chinese market is unchanged in May. And due to high germanium metal price, most downstream consumers, who have certain amount of inventories, reduce their purchasing volumes and take a wait-and-see attitude towards the market. However, germanium dioxide market sees more activities due to the strong demand in China and Japan, and worldwide supply has become constrained.
