Prices of rebar and wire rod in May did not fluctuate sharply in Chinese markets under the complicated condition of high production cost but soft demand from buyers. Most domestic steel mills kept prices for June production unchanged, weakening market traders’ confidence, in spite of an expectation of output reduction in June. The demand from downstream construction industry will decrease with the coming of summer when it is getting hot and rainy, which is no doubt to slow down the operation of construction projects. Consequently, prices of wire rod and rebar are predicted to go down in June.
