Manganese flake price kept the down-held trend in April, from RMB19,500/t (USD2,914/t) ex works early April to about RMB18,700/t (USD2,804/t) ex works late April. There was no sign for the demand from downstream market to recover, and most steel mills were unwilling to replenish stocks in large volume and just made purchase from hand to mouth. In addition, the operating rate of manganese flake smelters in South China kept high, which resulted in the surplus supply in the spot market, so it was difficult for the manganese flake price to rebound in a short time.
