Prices of rebar and wire rod in most domestic markets kept a strong upward trend in April supported by increasing prices of raw materials coupled with stronger demand from end users. Meanwhile, many regional governments announced that the electricity supply will be limited to steelmakers for energy conservation and emission reduction, so steel market participants were all optimistic about the coming market in May. Nevertheless, observers predict prices will not move up much in May because of the credit squeeze policy.
