Antimony ingot prices hit $3150/t

BEIJING(Asian Metal)1-Feb-05 According to some market participants, the export price of antimony ingot in China has hit the level of $3150/t CIF Europe since late last week, which is expected to increase further after the Chinese Spring Festival holiday.
A Beijing based trader told Asian Metal today that its current quoted price of antimony ingot is $3150/t CIF Europe. "We increased our quotation to the current level since last week, due to the present tight supply of antimony ingot and the strong global demand," the trader said, reporting that the price is expected to jump up further after the Spring Festival owing to the tight antimony ore supply and the shortage of the available material in domestic market.
"At present, our quotation is $3150/t CIF Europe," a Guangzhou based trader noted, who disclosed that last Friday, he concluded a container of antimony ingot at the price of $3150/t CIF with a European trader. "That price is the prevailing level in Europe at the moment. However, some businesses are concluded higher than that level," he added.
Meanwhile, a Hong Kong based trader confirmed that the current mainstream price of antimony ingot is around $3150/t CIF Europe. "Influenced by the tight supply of antimony ingot from domestic producers, we are obliged to wait for a while and return to the market late next month when we can get some material, " the producer remarked. He also indicated that its contracted price of antimony ingot reached around $3100/t CIF Europe a week ago.
However, for the time being, the quantity of antimony ingot, which has been contracted at the level of $3150/t, is very small, for most of Chinese producers, which are about to be in equipment maintenance in the following days, would not produce more before the Spring Festival. That might lead the price to keep on the current level at least in the following month, with great possibility to rocket further after the Chinese New Year.
