BEIJING (Asian Metal) 07-Jan-05 The bismuth remains relatively firm in China market at present with the current price at rmb64,000-66,000/t ex works or $3.18-3.23/lb CIF Europe.
“We hold the price at the high level of rmb66,000/t ex works, which is still acceptable by domestic buyers now,” a Jiangxi based smelter told Asian Metal today, adding," the export condition is still poor and we nearly had no new export orders for months."
Now the firm has about 20-30t spot materials available, but it would not sell at a comparatively low price of under rmb66,000/t for too little profit.
A Hunan based trader also reported that he has little export business for bismuth currently for smelters insist on the price over rmb64000/t ($3.17/lb CIF Europe) while the international price hovers at a low level of around $3.2/lb . “The profit is too small . And I think that it is reasonable for us to contract at a price of about $3.3/lb,” added the manager.
