BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Nov 05 – Since the price of antimony climbed to USD3,850-3,900/t in warehouse Rotterdam, the market had been reported to be quiet. Today, a few European traders reported that they start to receive inquiries and made a few sales.
A major European trader told Asian Metal that he sold several batches of antimony this week with the prices in the range of USD3,900-4,000/t in warehouse Rotterdam. “The business is picking up a little . For each deal the amount is little, but gathered together, I would say the market is getting active now . ”
The trader is very positive when looking to the future market. “The price is firm, and I think that USD4,000/t is not far.” In the passed a few weeks, the antimony market remained stable with prices offered at USD3,850-3,900/t in warehouse Rotterdam . “It seems that the consumers are giving in and starting to make purchases now.”
A UK trader claimed that he sold three containers antimony in the passed two weeks to several central European consumers at the price atUSD3,975/t delivered to customer. “It is a battle between suppliers and consumers,” said the trader .
The trader believes most western traders do not have too much material on hand, but he learned that many Chinese traders have material stocked in warehouse. “With the stock Chinese traders have on hand, the market is still looking good, and I think the Chinese would won the battle.”
