BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 Sep 05 - Chinese ferroboron prices have dropped greatly since early this month, due to the weak demand from both domestic and international markets
A Liaoning-based ferroboron smelter has reduced its ferroboron 18% 0.5%C prices from USD1,960/t before The Chinese National Day to USD1,900/t at present .
"The ferroboron market usually remains stable, and the demand is always not very strong," said the producer. "I think the recent price drop could be attributed to the weak demand from both domestic and international steel mills . "
With about 200t of ferroboron in stock, the smelter now produces about 500tpm of the material and sells ferroboron 18% 0.1%C and ferroboron 18% 0.05%C for USD3,600/t and USD7,200/t, respectively .
Another Liaoning-based producer confirmed that the ferroboron price has dropped a lot since early this month. The smelter now sells ferroboron 18% 0.5%C for USD1,850-1,900/t FOB CMP, down from USD2,000/t later last month .
Market participants believe that the ferroboron price would not likely drop further, and the market will keep stable in the coming weeks.
