Ferrotungsten price breaks USD30 in European market

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Sep 05 – The European market of ferrotungsten was very tight in the last week, and market participants reported prices as high as USD30/kg in warehouse Rotterdam.
A Belgium trader told Asian Metal that he did not deal ferrotungsten in the last week, not because of a slow market, but for he could not find material in the market. “The current price increased to USD30-31/kg in warehouse Rotterdam, but you only see the price, but no material.”
According to the trader, his last activity of ferrotungsten was about to buy a container 10 days ago at the price of USD29/kg in warehouse Rotterdam, but someone bought the material before he did. “Material in spot market is really hard to find,” said the trader.
With ITIA conference held in Changsha at this moment, many tungsten market participants are in China looking for business opportunities, and better offers from Chinese suppliers. The trader reveals that he deals around 500 tons ferrotungsten annually.
A purchasing executive from a central European consumer reported to Asian Metal that he is working on buying two tons of ferrotungsten. “My suppliers said they wouldn’t have enough material if I ask for more, but I need to pay a little more at USD32/kg in warehouse Rotterdam, and I am bargaining with them now.” The executive revealed that his target price is around USD30/kg in warehouse Rotterdam.
The consumer purchases less than 100 tons ferrotungsten each year.
