Northern Rare Earth receives 16.8% increase in first mining quota in 2024

On February 6, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Ministry of Natural Resources set the first batch of rare earth production quotas for 2024, including 135,000 tonnes for mining and 127,000 tonnes for smelting and separation, up by 12.5% and 10.4% respectively from the first batch in 2023. This year's first batch of mining quota for light rare earths increased by 14.5%, while that for heavy rare earths declined by 7.3%, both compared with the first batch of 2023.
China Northern Rare Earth (Group) High-Tech Co., Ltd. has received the majority of the rare earth quotas in the first batch, including 94,580 tonnes for mining and 88,010 tonnes for smelting and separation, accounting for 70.1% and 69.3% of the respective total and up by 16.8% and 19.9% from last year.
