Liuzhou Steel completes first furnace for 300ktpa silicomanganese project

On December 20, Liuzhou Steel Group completed the construction of No.1 furnace for its green manganese materials industry base upgrade and transformation project.
With a total investment of about RMB3.7 billion (USD518 million), the project is expected to generate an annual production value of more than RMB10 billion (USD1.40 billion). Phase one of the project, with investment of RMB1.3 billion (USD182 million), covers an area of 1,150Mu (76.67 hectares) and mainly includes construction of four 40000kVA fully closed submerged arc furnaces and associated facilities for an annual production capacity of 300,000t of silicomanganese. Phase two will mainly build a energy supply system. When completed, the phase one project would achieve an annual operating revenue of around RMB2.8 billion (USD392 million) and tax revenue of RMB50 million (USD7 million), helping create nearly 600 jobs.
