Baiyinhua Aluminum Branch of Inner Mongolia Baiyinhua Coal Power Co., Ltd., affiliate to State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC), announced that a total of 300 500kA electrolytic cells at its 400,000tpa high precision aluminum sheet and strip project began to operate fully on December 16, marking the completion of the "coal-electricity-aluminum" integrated circular economy industrial cluster developed by SPIC in Baiyinhua, Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia.
The project kicked off construction in September 2018 and is SPIC's only aluminum production line using 500kA prebaked anode electrolytic cells. With a total investment of RMB4.58 billion (USD642 million), the project will consume low calorific value coal from the local area, through an associated railway line of 5.76 kilometers.
The project has an annual production capacity of 400,000t of aluminum sheet and strip and is expected to generate a total annual production value of nearly RMB7.5 billion (USD1.05 billion), helping expand industry value chain and promote diversified development.
