Yuneng Chemical's 400ktpa ethylene glycol project begins production

On December 9, Shaanxi Yuneng Chemical Materials Co., Ltd. delivered the first shipment of products from its 400ktpa coal-to-ethylene glycol project, marking the start of production of the company's first coal chemical project.
With a total investment of RMB6.24 billion (USD870 million), the project is located at Qingshui industry park of Yulin Economic Development Zone. It adopts indirect process to produce polyester grade ethylene glycol from synthesis gas. The project kicked off construction in 2021, completed engineering construction and installation in July 2023, and finished hot commissioning of first gasifier in late October. So far, polyester grade ethylene glycol up to national standards have been produced and sent to Shandong, Hebei, Zhejiang and other markets.
