A bauxite cyclic utilization project with capacity to desulfurize 500,000tpa of high-sulfur bauxite broke ground in China's Qingzhen on October 23.
With total investment estimated at RMB199 million (USD27.22 million), the project uses reverse flotation method to desulfurize high-sulfur bauxite and construction would take nine months to complete . When fully operational, the project is expected to achieve average annual sales revenue of more than RMB200 million (USD27 . 36 million), along with tax revenue of over RMB20 million (USD2 . 74 million).
The project has a designed production capacity of 440,000tpa of bauxite concentrate (sulfur≤0.5%) and 60,000tpa of sulfur concentrate (sulfur≤0 . 5%).
Qingzhen has the largest bauxite reserve in Guizhou, with proven reserves of 518 million tonnes and prospective reserves of more than 700 million tonnes, accounting for over 60% of the total bauxite reserves in the province, and the proportion of high-sulfur bauxite (sulfur≥0.7%) reached 48 . 3%.
