The Chinese antimony market saw prices move upwards amid fluctuation in August. Owing to tight supply for raw material in the domestic market and strong wait-and-see sentiments of international suppliers, downstream consumers in China held insufficient stocks and started refilling stocks at the end of July, which made sales of producers go up sharply and prices in the domestic antimony market stop from declining and start to rebound. Prices for Chinese antimony concentrate moved upwards amid fluctuation in August and quotations in the market stayed firm as miners held back from selling and kept their prices firm while downstream consumers kept steady purchases owing to tight supply for the raw material. Supported by firm antimony concentrate prices, mainstream prices of antimony ingot kept firm in China in August. Given firm antimony ingot prices, prices of antimony trioxide went up accordingly in August, and consumers kept stable purchases as they worried that prices of the material would go up further. In light of tight supply and firm prices for raw material, the international antimony product market saw both limited supply and firm quotations in August; meanwhile, suppliers had strong intention to keep their prices firm as the supply in the spot market was inadequate owing to traffic jam in major supply regions in Burma. Most international buyers conducted concentrated purchases in early August, leading to the release of deals and the bullish sentiments in the market. In addition, prices for both antimony ingot and antimony trioxide went up slightly in both the European and American market during the month.
