GEM reports 7.75% increase in H1 ternary precursor shipment

GEM reported shipment of more than 71,100t of ternary precursor materials used for power battery in the first half of 2023, up by 7.75% from the year-ago period, and ranked in second position in the global market. The Chinese company exported nearly 44,300t of ternary precursor during the period, accounting for over 62% of the total shipment. The H1 sales volume of high-nickel ternary precursor materials (8 series and above) exceeded 57,000t, accounting for over 80% of the total shipment, and that of high-nickel ternary precursor materials (Ni90 and above) exceeded 44,000t, accounting for over 62% of the total shipment.
In H1 2023, the company's QMB nickel resource project in Indonesia sold nearly 10,300t of nickel equivalent metal of MHP. The phase two of the project is under construction and will expand nickel capacity by 93,000tpa to bring the project's total annual capacity to 123,000t of nickel equivalent metal.
GEM reported H1 sales of 3,097t of ultra fine cobalt powder, up by 52.56% YoY. The company ranked as the top one supplier of ultra fine cobalt powder for ten consecutive years with a market share of more than 50%. The company also sold 2,224t of recycling tungsten products in H1 2023, up by 3.44% from the prior year period.
