Bisheng Mining decreases silicomanganese production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 1 May 23 - As one of the major silicomanganese Mn 65%min, Si 17%max, P 0.25%max, S 0.08%max producers in South China, Baise Bisheng Mining Co. decreased their production of silicomanganese in April, a source from this company revealed to Asian Metal.
The source mentioned, "Our production of silicomanganese Mn 65%min, Si 17%max, P 0.25%max, S 0.08%max would decline to 12,000t in April as the downstream demand stays soft and our profit remains thin". The producer presently holds 4 furnaces of 25,000 kVA and 4 furnaces of 33,000 kVA.
Based on the annual production capacity of 500,000t of silicomanganese Mn 65%min, Si 17%max, P 0.25%max, S 0.08%max, the producer intends to produce 12,000t this month, down by 8,000t from the previous month. The producer currently holds no inventory.
Given that the downstream clients purchase inactively, the present mainstream prices for silicomanganese Mn 65%min, Si 17%max, P 0.25%max, S 0.08%max remain at RMB6,950-7,150/t (USD1,004-1,033/t) EXW D/P, unchanged from mid this week. Because of the decreased volume of stocks, insiders believe the mainstream prices would stay unchanged next week.
