American gallium metal import prices stay stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Apr 23 - American gallium metal 99.99%min import market ran slowly over the past week and most downstream consumers only purchased from hand to mouth. The current mainstream import prices of American gallium metal 99.99%min stand at USD275-285/kg CIF US now, unchanged from the end of last week. Market participants believe that the prevailing import prices of American gallium metal 99.99%min would remain stable next week considering that most Chinese exporters would leave away from the spot market due to holidays early May.
An importer in America disclosed that they last imported around 200kg of gallium metal 99.99%min at USD280/kg CIF US last week from a regular exporter, who still insists on this price now. They earlier imported around 200kg at USD265/kg CIF US early April and would keep purchasing from hand to mouth in view of the unstable prices trend now. The source said, "Driven by firm offers from exporters, we believe that mainstream import prices of American gallium metal 99.99%min would remain stable in the upcoming week."
The importer, based on a consumption capacity of 12tpy of gallium metal 99.99%min, expects to consume around 1,000kg this month, unchanged from last month. They hold no stock presently, in line with the end of last month. They consumed about 6t totally in 2022 and around 2.5t till now in 2023.
Another importer in America noted that their regular exporters generally offer USD270/kg CIF US for gallium metal 99.99%min at present and few of them could accept lower price even for firm bids, the same as early this week, while most exporters still insisted on USD280/kg CIF US early last week. As they did not close any deal over the past month, they held back from building stocks. They last imported around 500kg at USD330/kg CIF US late February. "We are of the opinion that the mainstream import prices of American gallium metal 99.99%min would stay unchanged next week due to the holiday in China," the source said.
The importer, having a regular monthly trading volume of 100kg of gallium metal 99.99%min, holds no stock now, unchanged from the end of last month. They last sold around 500kg in February and then kept watching the market without any deals till now.
