Ningxia Jianlong Special Steel to decrease HR strip production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Apr 23 - Ningxia Jianlong Special Steel Co. (Ningxia Jianlong Special Steel), the major HR strip producer in Northwest China, would reduce the production by about 30,000t MoM to around 30,000t in April, said a source of the company.
"We stopped the production early this month due to insufficient orders and restarted on April 27th. The planned output of HR strip for this month would drop from about 60,000t in March to around 30,000t," explained the source. According to him, they still have zero stock in hand for the time being, the same as last month.
Located in Shizuishan, Ningxia and with one HR strip production line of 850mm rolling mill, Ningxia Jianlong Special Steel produces HR strip with the width of 350-520mm and thickness of 1.2-6.5mm. Based on the annual production capacity of about two million tonnes, the company produced about 500,000t of HR strip in 2022 and around 60,000t in Q1 of this year.
The mainstream prices of HR strip Q195 (232-355)mm*2.5mm*C from Tangshan Delong Steel stood at about RMB3,770/t (USD544/t) D/P in warehouse Tangshan on Wednesday, unchanged from Tuesday. Insiders expect Chinese HR strip prices to decrease in the coming week on weak demand.
