Tianzhu Wenhong plans to suspend black silicon carbide production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 26 Apr 23 - Tianzhu Wenhong Technology Co., Ltd., a primary black silicon carbide producer in Gansu, plans to halt their black silicon carbide production in early May in light of the sluggish market demand, with an output of nearly 1,200t this month.
"We are considering to halting production in early May in light of the dim end market. We would only put into production again if market demand become better in the future", a source from the company stated, noting that they predict to produce about 1,200t in April in total.
With a current annual production capacity of 40,000t, the company produced about 11,000t in the year of 2022 and they forecast to have same production scale this year due to the weak market demand. They had a stock of nearly 1,000t at present.
The present mainstream prices of black silicon carbide 97%min 10-30cm Fe2O3 0.6%max free C 0.3%max stand at RMB7,600/t (USD1,102/t) EXW D/A 180 days in Gansu, unchanged from late last week. The market saw stagnant buying activities because of the dim end market. Nonetheless, in consideration of the high production costs, market participants predict that the prevailing prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would keep stable in the forthcoming week.
