Oriental Carbon to finish equipment maintenance

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Apr 23 - Wenxian County Oriental Carbon Co., a medium-sized prebaked anode producer in Henan, plans to finish equipment maintenance and restart operation from late April and produced around 3,000t in April, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We would finish equipment maintenance and restart operation from late this month, and produced around 3,000t this month," said the source, who once shut down operation for equipment maintenance from late last week because of the accumulated stocks and sluggish demand. They now hold close to 10,000t in stock. They plan to produce around 6,000t in May.
With two production lines and the total production capacity of 130,000tpy, they produced around 20,000t so far this year and around 60,000t in 2022.
Current mainstream prices for prebaked anode S 3%max in north China keep at RMB5,350-5,450/t (USD776-791/t) EXW, down by RMB50/t (USD7/t) from late last week for the sluggish market. As pet coke prices went down over the past three weeks, prebaked anode producers anticipate lower prices late this month.
