BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Apr 23 - Given the market runs slow currently, most suppliers have no intentions to decline prices. The prevailing prices of Chinese silicomanganese Mn 65%min Si 17%min P 0.25%max S 0.04%max stay at RMB6,950-7,150/t (USD1,008-1,037/t) EXW D/P, unchanged from late last week. Given that the downstream clients only purchase from hand to mouth, insiders believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese silicomanganese would stay firm this week.
A producer in South China noted that they offered RMB7,000/t (USD1,015/t) EXW D/P for silicomanganese Mn 65%min Si 17%min P 0.25%max S 0.04%max today and they refuse to accept any counteroffers, unchanged from the end of last week. The producer refused a client who wanted to purchase 300t at RMB6,950/t (USD1,008/t) due to the thin profit. They last sold 500t at RMB7,200/t (USD1,044/t) delivered D/A early this month. Due to the high level of inventory, the producer believes that the mainstream prices of Chinese silicomanganese would edge down next week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 80,000t of silicomanganese, stopped production this month due to equipment maintenance, holding no stock at present. The producer produced around 3,000t last month.
A trader in North China currently offers RMB7,000/t (USD1,015/t) EXW D/P for silicomanganese Mn 65%min Si 17%min P 0.25%max S 0.04%max without concessions, on par with late last week. The trader closed no deal today and they last sold 300t at RMB7,000/t (USD1,015/t) to a small steel mill two weeks ago. Given that the downstream clients purchase inactively, the trader forecasts that the mainstream prices of Chinese silicomanganese would go down.
