BEIJING (Asian Metal) 23 Apr 23 - Dragged by the sluggish demand, the current mainstream prices of zirconium carbonate 40%min in China moved down by RMB500/t (USD72/t) to RMB23,500-24,500/t (USD3,414-3,559/t) EXW D/P from early last week. Given the sluggish demand but firm offers from suppliers, insiders foresee the mainstream prices of zirconium carbonate 40%min in China would keep softly stable this week.
A trader in North China revealed that he bought 20t of zirconium carbonate at RMB23,500/t (USD3,414/t) EXW D/P from a regular supplier who insisted on RMB24,000/t (USD3,486/t) early last week. "We usually purchase 20t every week but only purchased 20t in April in total to deliver orders," revealed the trader on Friday. He added that supplier intends to hold prices firm upon the stabilizing prices of zirconium oxychloride, but he foresees the mainstream prices of zirconium carbonate 40%min in China would maintain softly stable this week upon the weak demand.
The trader, based on a regular monthly purchase amount for zirconium carbonate of about 80t, expects to buy 40t at most in April, down by 40t from last month, holding no stocks.
Another trader in South China revealed that the current offer for 20t of zirconium carbonate 40%min from a regular supplier stands at RMB24,000/t (USD3,486/t) EXW D/P with the discount of RMB300/t (USD43/t) at most for firm bids, while the supplier insisted on 24,200/t (USD3,515/t) early last week, and he prefers to delay the purchase. "I last purchased 20t at RMB24,500/t (USD3,559/t) two weeks ago, and my purchase amount in April would cut by half against March upon the sluggish demand," revealed the trader on Friday. He predicts the mainstream prices of zirconium carbonate 40%min in China would soften next week.
