European tantalite market prices decrease

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Apr 23 - As most consumers remained inactive in sending inquiries, European tantalite suppliers lowered their prices in the past week. The current mainstream prices of European tantalite 30%min decreased to USD92-94/lb Ta2O5 in warehouse Rotterdam, down by USD2/lb Ta2O5 from early last week. As most suppliers compete for limited orders, insiders predict that the mainstream prices would decrease further in the coming week.
"We offer USD94/lb Ta2O5 in warehouse Rotterdam for tantalite 30%min and could accept USD92/lb Ta2O5 for orders no less than 5t at present, while we quoted USD95/lb Ta2O5 and could accept USD94/lb Ta2O5 for the same quantity early last week," said a trader in Europe, who received no inquiry this week, while they received one inquiry in total last week. They last sold around 5t at about USD94/lb Ta2O5 to a regular client in early April. Discouraged by weak demand from downstream consumers, the trader plans to lower their price by around USD2/lb Ta2O5 next week and predicts that the mainstream prices would decrease by around USD2/lb Ta2O5 in the coming week.
With a regular trading monthly volume of 10t, the trader would sell around 5t in April, down by 5t from May. They sold nearly 100t in 2022 and almost 35t so far in 2023. They hold no stock now, unchanged from last month.
Another trader in Europe noted that they quoted USD92/lb Ta2O5 in warehouse Rotterdam for tantalite 30%min and could accept no counteroffers today, while they insisted on USD94/lb Ta2O5 early last week. "We received no inquiry after we last sold around 2t at about USD94/lb Ta2O5 to a regular client early this month," said the trader, who ceased collecting new materials from local miners due to no orders.
