Tangshan Steel to increase construction steel output

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Apr 23 - As a branch of HBIS and one of major construction steel producers in North China, Tangshan Iron and Steel (Tangshan Steel) plans to produce roughly 160,000t of construction steel in April, up from 110,000t in March.
"Supported by increased supply of raw materials, we would enlarge construction steel output by around 45.5% MoM to 160,000t in April," revealed a source from the company, adding that they remained more active in flat steel production for higher profit in recent two months . It could produce nearly 230,000t of construction steel per month when production lines ran with full capacity.
Tangshan Steel owns an annual production capacity of 3.0 million tons for construction steel . It witnessed an output of nearly 470,000t in the Q1 of this year, against 2 . 0 million tons in 2022 . Currently it has an inventory of roughly 10,000t.
In Tangshan, Hebei, the mainstream prices of rebar HRB400E Φ22mm hovered at around RMB3,900/t (USD566/t) D/P on Thursday, down by RMB20/t (USD3/t) from Wednesday. Due to falling prices of raw materials and limited demand from downstream industries, construction steel prices would decline further in the coming week.
