BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Apr 23 - Most antimony trioxide consumers are short of stocks and prefer to replenish inventory before the Labour Day holiday, so the market began to see slightly increased deals since late April and producers generally saw a small rise in sales this month compared with last month. Current prevailing prices for Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min stay firm at RMB72,000-73,000/t (USD10,445-10,590/t) delivered D/A 30 days, up by roughly RMB500/t (USD72.53/t) from late last week. Given the still weak end-user demand and considering that suppliers hold offers unmoved due to firm price of raw material, insiders believe that prices for Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would remain stable in the coming week.
A producer in South China said, "We expect to sell about 500-600t of antimony trioxide 99.8%min in April, against around 300-400t last month. Some downstream clients intend to replenish stocks before the Labour Day holiday, so there are slightly more deals closed in the market". The producer added that they now quote antimony trioxide 99.8%min at RMB72,500/t (USD10,517/t) delivered D/A 30 days and sold about 20t at RMB72,500/t (USD10,517/t) just yesterday, while they sold about 20t at RMB72,000/t (USD10,445/t) late last week. The producer added that most Chinese suppliers of antimony ingot 99.85%min prefer to hold offer firm at RMB82,000/t (USD11,896/t) EXW D/P, so mainstream prices for the material stay firm as well. They last purchased 30t of antimony ingot 99.85%min at RMB81,000/t (USD11,751/t) a week ago. Given the slack end-user demand, downstream antimony trioxide consumers are relatively cautious about buying at prices higher than RMB72,000/t (USD10,445/t). Therefore, the producer believes that prices for Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would remain stable in the following week.
With an annual production capacity of 20,000t of antimony trioxide 99.8%min, they produced about 8,000t in 2022 and around 2,800t so far this year, expecting about 600t in April, up from around 300t in March. They hold inventory of around 500t now, the same as a month ago.
