Chinese cadmium ingot prices decrease

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Apr 23 - Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min producers generally lowered the prices to compete for orders over the past two weeks and the market ran slowly due to bearish attitudes from consumers. The current prevailing prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min move down to RMB32,200-32,700/t (USD2.12-2.15/lb) EXW D/P, a decrease of RMB1,800/t (USD0.12/lb) from late last week. Market participants believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min would go down further in the coming week in view of soft offers from suppliers now.
A South-China-based consumer mentioned that one of their regular suppliers marked down the price of cadmium ingot 99.99%min to RMB30,000/t (USD1.97/lb) Ex-vat EXW D/P at present and could accept a counteroffer of RMB500/t (USD0.03/lb) for firm bids, while the supplier still insisted on RMB32,000/t (USD2.19/lb) Ex-vat EXW D/P last week. They last purchased around 33t at RMB34,000/t (USD2.24/lb) Ex-vat EXW D/P in the middle of March and then kept watching the market in view of decreasing orders. The source said, "As our consumers generally would like to replace cadmium with lead, our demand stays weak and forecast that the prevailing prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min would show a downtrend in the coming week."
The consumer, based on a regular monthly trading volume of 1,200tpy of cadmium ingot 99.99%min, holds around 20t of stocks now, down by about 10t from the end of last month. They expect to consume around 15t this month, a decrease of 50% YoY.
"Our regular suppliers generally could accept RMB30,500/t (USD2.01/lb) Ex-vat EXW D/P for cadmium ingot 99.99%min at present, while most of the suppliers still refused to sell below RMB32,000/t (USD2.10/lb) Ex-vat EXW D/P one week ago," another consumer in Southern China disclosed, adding that they last purchased around 15t at RMB34,000/t (USD2.24/lb) Ex-vat EXW D/P early April. They tend to watch the market in rest days of this month. They are of the opinion that the mainstream prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min would decline further next week as most suppliers tend to move down the prices to compete for orders.
