Sendu Carbon to start equipment maintenance

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 19 Apr 23 - Baotou Sendu Carbon Co., a major prebaked anode producer in Inner Mongolia of China, plans to start regular maintenance on one baking furnace from early May and the production volume might slip by 6,000tpm, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We would start maintenance on one baking furnace from early next month and the production volume might reduce by 6,000tpm," said the source, who would produce around 52,000t in April and the volume might slip to 46,000t in May. Focusing on sales in the local market, they hold no stock now.
With five baking furnaces and the total production capacity of 700,000tpy, they produced over 150,000t in Q1 this year and close to 600,000t in 2022.
Current mainstream prices for prebaked anode S 3%max in the local market keep at RMB5,800-5,900/t (USD844-858/t) delivered, down by around RMB500/t (USD73/t) from late last month because of the reduced cost and weakened demand. Producers remain pessimistic towards the price late this month.
