BEIJING (Asian Metal) 19 Apr 23 - Upon the power shortage in India, the current mainstream prices of ferrosilicon 70%min 25-150mm edged up by INR3,000/t (USD36/t) to INR118,000-123,000/t (USD1,439-1,500/t) EXW D/P from early last week
A consumer in India disclosed that he bought 30t of ferrosilicon 70%min 25-150mm at INR122,000/t (USD1,488/t) delivered D/P covered the logistic of INR2,000/t (USD24/t) on Tuesday from a regular supplier who could accept INR120,000/t (USD1,464/t) for the same volume early last week. "All of my suppliers lifted prices this week due to the shortage of power in India, while our consumption would decrease in April against March dragged by the sluggish demand of our ending products," revealed the consumer on Tuesday . He foresees the mainstream prices of ferrosilicon 70%min 25-150mm in India would go flat next week upon the firm offers but weakening demand.
With an annual ferrosilicon consumption capacity of 3,600t, the consumer plans to consume around 100t in April, down by about 100t from last month, holding around 200t in stock.
A producer in India revealed that he lifted prices of ferrosilicon 70%min 25-150mm by INR2,000/t (USD24/t) to INR120,000/t (USD1,464/t) with no discount as the power supply shortened in India, while he last sold 100t at INR118,000/t (USD1,439/t) early last week. "The demand turned slow as my major clients decreased their purchase volume, and I suppose prices of ferrosilicon 70%min 25-150mm in India would stand still next week upon the firm offers but low purchases," revealed the producer on Tuesday.
With an annual ferrosilicon production capacity of 15,000t, the plant plans to output around 500t in April, down by around 500t from last month, holding around 500t in stock.
