BEIJING (Asian Metal) 19 Apr 23 - Supported by higher prices of crude selenium, most Chinese selenium powder 99.9%min suppliers had to move up the prices further and the market saw active deals over the past week. The current prevailing prices of Chinese selenium powder 99.9%min increase to RMB180-185/kg (USD26.17-26.90/kg) delivered D/P, up by RMB13/kg (USD1.89/kg) from late last week. Insiders are of the opinion that the mainstream prices of Chinese selenium powder 99.9%min would show an uptrend in the coming week due to increasing crude selenium prices now.
A producer in Southern China disclosed that they offer RMB190/kg (USD27.63/kg) delivered D/P for selenium powder 99.9%min now and refuse to lower the price even for firm bids, while they still could accept RMB185/kg (USD26.90/kg) delivered D/P late last week. The source said, "As crude selenium prices went to RMB165/kg (USD24.00/kg) delivered D/P already, we had to move up the prices of selenium powder 99.9%min and wait for consumers to bid." They last sold around 2t of selenium powder 99.9%min at RMB185/kg (USD26.90/kg) delivered D/P last Friday. They believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese selenium powder 99.9%min would go up further in the coming week depends on strong prices of crude selenium.
The producer, based on a production capacity of 700tpy of selenium powder 99.9%min, expects to produce around 30t this month, almost the same as last month. They hold around 100t of stocks now, in line with the end of March.
