Ansteel active in HRC production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 18 Apr 23 - Acting as the largest HRC producer in Northeast China, Anshan Iron and Steel Group (Ansteel) will run fully of all the four HRC production lines (1,580mm, 1,700mm, 1,780mm, 2,150mm) in May, with the output to reach 574,000t, against 550,000t in April.
"Supported by sufficient orders, we plan to produce HRC fully next month, and the output in May would witness the MoM increase of 27,400t to 574,000t," disclosed a sales official from Ansteel. In the meantime, he revealed that Ansteel maintains HRC EXW prices for May production flat on the basis of April production, which stimulates end users to place orders after the continuous increases of RMB700/t (USD102/t) in the past four months.
Reporting an annual HRC production capacity of 15.5 million tons, Ansteel recorded the output of approximately 1.45 million tons in the first quarter of 2023 and 6.34 million tons in 2022. Ansteel does not hold any inventories for the moment.
Presently, the prevailing price of HRC Q235B 5.5mm*1,500mm*C stands at RMB4,100/t (USD597/t) D/P in warehouse Shenyang, Liaoning, similar to late last week. The market runs slowly as downstream customers keep cautious about purchasing discouraged by the weakening market while traders remain reluctant to sell upon losses.
