Jien Nickel conducts maintenance on nickel sulfate production lines

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 Apr 23 - Jilin Jien Nickel Industry Co., Ltd., one of major electroplating grade nickel sulfate Ni 22%min, Co 0.05%max producers in China, halted production starting from early April to conduct maintenance on production lines and expects to produce about 400t of the material throughout this month.
"Bearing no pressure of delivery against the backdrop of sluggish demand continuously seen in the electroplating grade nickel sulfate market, we suspended production in early April to conduct maintenance on our production equipment and expect to resume production in late April after completing the maintenance. We expect that our output would be about 400t in April, much lower than the figure of around 2,000t in March," a source from the company said, adding that they used to make maintenance in June-August in previous years, but do it in advance this year owing to soft demand from clients.
With an annual production capacity of 30,000t, the company produced about 24,000t of electroplating grade nickel sulfate in 2022 and holds about 2,000t of stocks at the moment.
Mainstream prices of Chinese electroplating grade nickel sulfate Ni 22%min, Co 0.05%max stood at RMB32,000-33,000/t (USD4,666-4,812/t) delivered D/A this Thursday, steady from Wednesday. Given slack demand continuously seen in the market, Chinese electroplating grade nickel sulfate producers bear great pressure of sales and thus it's expected that mainstream prices of the material would go down in the domestic market in the coming week.
