Chinese antimony ingot prices edge up

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 11 Apr 23 Supported by the firm price of raw material, antimony ingot suppliers now generally hold back from selling and prices for the material stay firm. Current mainstream prices for antimony ingot 99.85%min stand at RMB81,500-82,500/t (USD11,843-11,988/t) EXW D/P, up slightly by RMB500/t (USD72.66/t) from late last week. Given the firm price of raw material and the limited spot supply of antimony ingot, insiders believe that prices for Chinese antimony ingot 99.85%min would stay unchanged in the following week.
A producer in South China said, "We now quote antimony ingot 99.85%min at RMB82,000/t (USD11,916/t) EXW D/P and refuse to accept prices lower than RMB81,500/t (USD11,843/t), with no deals closed so far this week. We received an enquiry early this week from a client who intended to purchase 30t at RMB81,000/t (USD11,771/t), but we refuse to sell. We last sold 64t at RMB81,000/t (USD11,771/t) one week ago". The producer added that, with an overall tight supply in the spot market, they plan to produce about 450t in April, against their initial plan for around 500t. Meanwhile, they didn't sell any spot material since the Spring Festival holiday. They explained that the market began to see more enquiries for antimony ingot 99.85%min since last week but most consumers had no intention to purchase at prices higher than RMBB82,000/t (USD11,916/t). Therefore, the producer believes that prices for Chinese antimony ingot 99.85%min would remain stable in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 8,000t of antimony ingot 99.85%min, they expect to produce about 450t in April, compared with 440t in March. They reported total production of nearly 4,500t in 2022. They now have no stocks in hand, the same as one month earlier.
Another producer in South China said their current offer for antimony ingot 99.85%min stands at RMB82,000/t (USD11,916/t) EXW D/P with no concession and they didn't close any deals this week yet while last sold about 30t at RMB81,000/t (USD11,771/t) one week ago. The producer added, "We now run at a relatively low operating rate with a monthly output of just around 100t of antimony ingot 99.85%min due to the tight supply of raw material, compared with our regular production of nearly 300t a month". Given the relatively tight supply of raw material, they forecast that prices for Chinese antimony ingot 99.85%min would stay firm in the coming week.
