Tianzhu Kanghong Halted black silicon carbide production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Apr 23 - Tianzhu Kanghong Silicon Carbide Co., Ltd., a major black silicon carbide producer in Gansu, stopped black silicon carbide production on 1st April because of the sluggish downstream market and high inventory, expecting to resume production in late May.
"We suspended our production on 1st April owing to the dormant end market and high inventory volume", adding that they would not resume until the market demand fully recovered, a source from the company reveled, noting that they expect to resume production in late May after the demand get back on track.
With an annual production capacity of 30,000t at present, the company had an output of almost 10,000t in 2022 and they plan to keep same production scale this year in light of the current weak demand. They hold an inventory of nearly 3,000t at the moment.
The present mainstream prices of black silicon carbide 98%min 10-30cm Fe2O3 0.5%max free C 0.2%max stand at RMB8,000/t (USD1,222/t) EXW D/A 180 days in Gansu, on par with late last week. The market saw inactive buying activities since the market demand stayed in low position. However, in view of the high production costs, insiders predict that the prevailing prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would remain stable in the forthcoming week.
