Chinese antimony trioxide prices stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Apr 23 - Antimony trioxide suppliers generally hold their offers unmoved this week supported by the firm price of antimony ingot, while downstream consumers are relatively cautious about purchasing. Current prevailing prices for Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min stay firm at RMB71,500-72,500/t (USD10,399-10,544/t) delivered D/A 30 days, on par with late last week. Given the firm price of raw material, insiders believe that prices for Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would stay flat in the following week.
A producer in South China said, "We now quote antimony trioxide 99.8%min at RMB72,000/t (USD10,472/t) delivered D/A 30 days and we refuse to accept lower prices even for firm orders. We sold about 20t at RMB72,000/t (USD10,472/t) yesterday after we sold 20t at the same price early this week". They added that, with the price of raw material keeping firm, they just purchased 30t of antimony ingot 99.85%min at RMB81,000/t (USD11,780/t) EXWD/P early this week, and now most suppliers prefer to firm their offer above RMB82,000/t (USD11,923/t). However, they didn't purchase and the price of raw material stays firm. The antimony trioxide market sees inactive purchases now and they currently sell about 120t a week, against their regular weekly sales of 180-200t. The market now sees light trading due to overall slack purchases from downstream consumers. Considering the firm price of raw material, they believe that prices for Chinese antimony ingot 99.8%min would remain unmoved in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 20,000t of antimony trioxide 99.8%min, they produced about 18,000t in 2022 and expects to produce about 1,000t in April, unchanged from March. They now hold inventory of around 300t, while they didn't hold any stocks one month earlier.
