Tianzhu Chuanggao Halted black silicon carbide production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Apr 23 - A major black silicon carbide producer in Gansu, Tianzhu Chuangao Silicon Carbide Co., Ltd. halted black silicon carbide production in late March due to the sluggish market demand and expected to produce resume in late July.
"We stopped production in late March because of the sluggish market demand and would consider to resume after the market demand recovered", an insider from the company claimed, noting that they produced about 2,000t this month and now focus on selling out inventory.
With a current production capacity of 30,000tpy, the company produced only about 13,000t in 2022 and they plan to keep same production volume this year owing to the weak market demand. They hold an inventory of nearly 3,000t at present.
The current prevailing prices of black silicon carbide 98%min 0-10mm Fe2O3 0.5%max free C 0.2%max stand at RMB8,000/t (USD1,222/t) EXW D/A 180 days in Gansu, in line with early this week. The market saw limited buying activities as the market demand stayed weak. However, in light of the high production costs, market participants believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would keep stable in the forthcoming week.
